Game #1 Sunday 4/19/2009
CARDINALS-6 METS-5

It was Opening day for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals battled the NY Mets at Oceanside Park Field # 4. The Cardinals were led by strong pitching performances from Matt Degroot, Andrew Gustaferri, Patrick Clarke, Francesco Ancona and the closer Jake Manyin, who picked up the win in relief. The Cardinals had stellar defense the entire game led by James Rubino, who threw out a base stealer trying to steal second base and also, throwing out a batter trying to bunt his way on for a hit. The Cardinals offensive was led by Jake Manyin, who was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and James Rubino and Matt Degroot who had 2 RBI's respectively. James Rubino's walk off walk in the bottom of the six won it for the Cardinals. Bobby Murphy's Mets gave us a tremendous performance throughout the game. The Cards played a great game and are looking forward to their next opponent the Angels from Island Park.


Game #2 Wednesday 5/6/2009
CARDINALS-10 ANGELS-5

Tonight the Cardinals took on the Angels from Island Park at Merle Avenue. The Cardinals were led by a strong pitching performance from Matt Degroot, who pitched two scoreless innings and struck out 4 Angels to start the game. The Cardinals had stellar defense the entire game led by James Rubino, who threw out a base stealer trying to steal third and two amazing plays from Jake Manyin. The Cardinals offensive was led by Bernie Diaz, who was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's and Carmine Elvezio, who was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI's. James Rubino, Jake Manyin, Francesco Ancona, Matt Degroot and Zack Camileri all had two hits to round out the Cardinals offensive performance for the game. The Cards played a great game and are looking forward to their next opponent the Toronto Blue Jays.

 


Game #3 Sunday 5/13/2009

The Cards took on the always tough Toronto Blue Jays at Merle Avenue last night. The Cardinals were led by a strong pitching performance again from Matt Degroot, who pitched incredible. His stat line for the evening was 4 innings pitched with 8 K's and 0 Runs. Francesco Ancona, pitched the one inning of relief and struck out the side. Jake Manyin, came in to close out the victory and preserving the shutout. The Cardinals again had stellar defense the entire game led by James Rubino, who threw out a base stealer trying to steal second base in the forth inning and also two fine plays by both Jake Manyin and Matt Degroot. The Cardinals offensive was led by Charles Ward, who was 1 for 1 with 1 RBI's (the game winning RBI) and a walk. James Rubino, Matt Degroot, Bernie Diaz, Jake Manyin, and Zack Camileri all had one hit respectively. The play of the night, a highlight plays from the Blue Jays Jerry Gimmi, who make an amazing catch in the outfield. The Cards played a great game and are looking forward to their next opponent on Friday night against the Angels from Island Park.
