"Frank LaMagna Sportsmanship Award"
What is the "Frank LaMagna Sportsmanship Award"?
It is simply the MOST prestigious award the Stallions have!
The Oceanside Stallions Football League has been operating under
the guidance and leadership of President Frank LaMagna for the
past 18 years. His philosophy has been very simple. We give EVERY
player the opportunity to play this game. Football provides our
kids the opportunity to learn about discipline, teamwork, effort,
desire, enjoyment, strategy, leadership, respect, dedication,
determination and hard work, but most importantly sportsmanship!
These are qualities that hopefully transcend from the football
field to their everyday lives as they grow older. How to become
a gracious winner and how to handle defeat are important aspects
of building character and integrity. The fact is, the majority
of boys who play Stallions football will never play organized
football again. We cater to the majority of players who come through
this league, unlike most sports leagues that cater to the minority
and organize themselves around the top players, creating tournament
teams and recognizing individual accomplishments. We don't have
All-Star games, M.V.P. awards, playoffs or championship games.
The top players in our league and M.V.P. type players are recognized
throughout the season and they earn their rewards through their
accomplishments on the field.
We consider all of our players as champions!
What we do recognize is the importance of sportsmanship and the impact of that
quality. In that regard, we give one player from each team the "Stallions
Sportsmanship Award". This award goes to the player who throughout the season
displays all of the above mentioned qualities and truly shows a love for the game
of football! In honor of Frank's MANY years of commitment to these values, the
Award will be named in his honor for MANY years to come! Thank you Frank! Head
or Asst. Coach's sons are not eligible to receive this award.

"Mitch Cooper Offense/Defense Camp Award"
This award began in 2006 and it serves to honor
Mitch Cooper, who started out as a Stallion's player "MANY MOONS"
ago and has been an active board member for close to 15 years. He was dedicated
as the Chairman of the Board and Equipment Manager for many of those years. As
a head coach, he was loved by his players. One season, one of his player's wrote
a wonderful short poem about his experience with Coach Mitch and the Stallions
and it was read at our Awards Luncheon!
To honor Mitch and his many years of service, the Stallions will give one player
a "FULL RIDE" scholarship to the "Offense/Defense Football Camp"
which is held each summer at the State University of NY, Farmingdale. It is a
full week of sleep away football training camp with games, fun, and many NFL guests!
Thank you Mitch!

"Ted Krokowski Coaches
Award"
This award was started in 2008
in honor of Mr. Ted Krokowski, who spent many years as a Stallions
Head Coach and a League organizer throughout the 1970's and
1980's. This award is given to the Head Coach who routinely
demonstrates the qualities we want our kids to emulate. Good
Sportsmanship, leadership and the understanding that this is
a game meant for our kids to ENJOY! It has nothing to do with
winning or losing, but how a coach carries himself throughout
a season and supports his players!
