2008 COWBOYS GAME RECAPS

Game #1 Sunday 9/28/2008
The Cowboys opened their season strong this week against the Steelers with a 6-0 Victory! Starting out on "D" , the Cowboys were able to hold the Steelers to 3 and out with a -3 yard tackle by Joe "Wheels" Licalzi on 1st down,a tackle for no gain on 2nd down by Mark " The Hammer" Visconti and a defense team stop for no gain on 3rd. Besides great play by the whole offense and defensive lines, there were several outstanding plays. Matt Kovitz with a solid stop on the line of scrimmage. Joe, Steve and Mark each with several behind the line tackles. Ben "Mad Dog" McKee made a solo tackle stopping a potential big gain by the Steelers! On offense we ran the ball well. Joe " Wheels" Licalzi with 100 yards on the day including a 50 yd run followed by a 3 yd run for the only Touchdown of the day! Joe and Steven hooked up later for a 10 yard pass while Mark " The Hammer" has 35 yards on the day. On the Steelers last play, 4th and long, they were getting ready to go deep when Daniel "I want Cable in my Room" Vega stopped it all with a solo sack for -5 yards! Congrats on a Game well Played by All!

Game #2 Sunday 10/5/2008
The Cowboys faced off in a hard fought game today against the Raiders, in which the large field and 6 points were the game deciders. The Raiders ran two great plays to the outside for a total of 60 yards and 6 points. the only score of the game. Take that away and it was an even game all around. The Cowboys held the ball almost the whole first half and marched the ball down to raiders 10 yard line with great plays by the backs, slots and running backs. Penalties and a few mistakes cost the team 60 yards today and keep us from scoring. On defense we has some outstanding plays. For example, when Jake" The Destroyer" Turchin broke through the line recording his first sack of the season on a very important play! Once again, Mark, Matt, Steve and Joe has countless tackles behind the line of scrimage. Daniel Vega and the rest of the defensive line closed down the middle and put pressure on the QB. Although we did lose today, the game was always within our grasp. A little more practice and we will be unstoppable! Remember- Never Give up and always have fun!

Game #3 Sunday 10/12/2008
It was a rainy sunday morning but the clouds began to break just in time for kickoff , when the Cowboys took the field against the Colts. We came out strong and put up a good fight Mark  "The Hammer" Visconti had a 40yd run and 8 solo tackles to lead the team. Not far behind was Steven“Mad Dog” Massimillo  who had 4 solo tackles behind the line of scrimage helping to electrify the team. William, Matt and TJ all followed up with a pair of tackles each. Ben "Mad Dog" McKee also had a pair, one of which saved what would have been a sure touchdown for the Colts.  Nicholas “The Guru” Burnside and Tyler “Crazy Legs” Dolan both had tackles today, and while on offense Tyler caught a pass form Danny "Mr Handsom" Cavallo for 5 yds and a 1st down. Jeffrey "The Big Man" Gruff was also a stand out today getting great push of the line. Good Job Boys with a little practice we will be unstoppable.

Game #4 Sunday 10/19/2008

How about them Cowboys !!  As Coaches; Jimmy, Doug and myself   could not be more proud of the effort put out by our Team today !! The Cowboys took the field today against the undefeated Packers and held there own. The game may have ended in a tie but as coaches we see it as a win. Against the larger Packer D the Cowboys were still able to perform putting up 6 points on the board with a 50 yard run by Joe "Wheels" Licalzi off a great block by Tyler “Crazy Legs” Dolan. Joe also playing D had 7 Solo tackles on the day.
On D the Cowboys were amazing holding the Packers to only 6 points with a critical extra point stop,  Mark  "The Hammer" Visconti  had 5 solo tackles, 1 sack, a broken up pass and saved the game by chasing down the Packers running back and stopping him on the 1 yard line as the time ran out in the first half. A true surprise in the game was the awakening of the Cowboy D line lead by Landon “X-Man” Finkel who was in the back field on every play. The rest of the D line all had multiple tackles Steven“Mad Man” Massimillo  with 3, Daniel "I want Cable in my Room" Vega  with 5, Jake "The Fireplug" Turchin with 2, William " I wana play D" McCallig with 3, Ben "Mad Dog" McKee and Nicholas “The Guru” Burnside both had 2.
If you Cowboys play like this every week you will win every game
Great Job

Game #5 Sunday 10/26/2008
Today the Cowboys took the Big Field against the Vikings and WOW ! did the Cowboys show up to play some football. Using the big field and speed to our advantage we ran from sideline to sideline then off tackle with a few passes put in to keep the Vikings D guessing. The Cowboys were able to put up 14 points today with some impressive play and only 1 penalty.
Joe "Wheels" Licalzi  was a sight to be seen today running for 109 yds 1 TD and an extra point, Mark
"The Hammer" Visconti  ran for 52 yards with 1 TD, Steven“Mad Dog” Massimillo ran for 10 yards and an extra point. None of which could have been done without the outstanding play of the O Line, with Jake "The Snake" McKee at tight end, Dominick "Iron Man" Arbolino at Guard, Jeffrey "The Big Man" Gruff at tackle and being led by William "The Anchor" McCallig stepping in at center with our 2nd year QB Danny "Mr Handsom" Cavallo.

But the story of the day was the Cowboys Defense. It was outstanding today a true group effort keeping the Vikings out of the end zone all day. The number of group tackles by the second half became to many to count, the preasure put on the Vikings QB was a story in itself. He was forced to scramble on any pass play and on one play in the late 4th quarter was hit so hard by Mark  "The Hammer" Visconti there was not another pass thrown in the game. Mark also had 6 solo tackles and twice broke up the play in the backfield.  But as I said the whole defense had a hand in the game. Nick and Ben both had a pair of tackles today in the game and late in the 3rd quarter Ben "Mad Dog" McKee  made a 3rd stopping a sure TD for the Vikings. Steven “Mad Dog” Massimillo had three on the day including a sack and a stop for -5. Joe "Wheels" Licalzi  had an interception and a tackle behind the line for -8. Matt "The Pouncer" Kovitz had 3 solo tackles and a great day on D today forcing the run's back inside to the middle letting nothing get outside of him. Jake "The Fireplug" Turchin was also outstanding today with 3 solo tackles and shutting down the middle of the field.

Another great job done by all Congratulations Cowboys !

Game #6 Sunday 11/2/2008

If was the first cold Sunday of the Football season and the Cowboys Offense ran out on to the back field to face the mighty Steelers. Once again the Offense was under the leadership and play calling of Daniel "Mr Handsom" Cavallo and his new secret weapon the giant 51LB center Nicky B. Just a few plays into the second quarter and Joe "Wheels" was able to get 82 yards rushing with a TD while Mark "The Hammer" had 25 yards of hard pounding gains. Not to mention the outstanding line play of Jeffrey "The Big Man" Gruff, Dominick "Iron Man" Arbolino, Jake "The Fireplug" Turchin, Jake "Mellow Yellow" Malloy and TJ "The Man" Reichel - Landon "X-Man" Finkel even got in on the Offense action today. The 6 points scored by the offense in the first half was all the points we scored on the day but with our Defense playing like this it was all we needed.
As a coach with the Defense playing the way it did today it was a pleasure to watch- minus the 2 offside penalties. Which we will work on in practice. Once again the whole Defense worked together to stop the Steelers form scorin
g a point in the game. There were countless numbers of plays where gang tackling and swarming to the ball was going on Joe was able to get 3 interceptions on the day brining him to 4 on the year pluss 2 unassisted tackles. Matt "The Pouncer" and Jake "The Fireplug" both had 3 solo tackles today while Jake M, TJ and Landon all had one apice. The hard hitter's of the day award goes to Steven "Mad Dog" got 5 solo tackles, one lost fingernail and 1 sack while Mark " The Hammer" got 6 Solo tackles and 2 sacks. Not to be forgotten was the beautiful defensive play by Tyler "Crazy Legs" Dolan coming up from corner and knocking down a pass thrown to the Steelers slot man.
You Boys continue to impress us each week!
