2009 PACKERS GAME RECAPS

Game #1 Sunday 10/4/2009
The start of the 2009 season had the Packers playing the Steelers on a beautiful sunny day for football. The first half was dominated by both defenses which had both offenses struggling to make first downs. With less than one minute remaining in the first half, Tyler Judd ran for a 65 yard touchdown to give the Packers a 6-0 lead going into half time. The second half featured strong defensive plays by the Packer line and linebackers. The defensive line consisting of Andrew Gustervari, Greg Lethbridge, Jake Turchin, Griffen Demilt, Henry Amione and Zach Allen frustrated the Steelers. Supporting the line was Liam Perini, Ryan Umansky and Ryan Smith. The linebackers (Tyler Judd, Dylan Judd and Jimmy Montgomery) were all over the field making tackles and breaking up numerous plays. Outside linebacker, Jimmy Montgomery had an interception on the 2 yard line to stop one of the Steeler's drives. The game was not decided until two minutes remaining when the Steelers drove the length the field for a touchdown.

Game #2 Sunday 10/11/2009

The second game of the season had the Packers playing the Raiders. The game began with both defensives stifling each other's offenses. Each team started the game with excellent defensive schemes that prevented the respective offensives to get into any rhythm. Just before halftime, the Raiders punched the ball into the end zone for the first touchdown of the game. The Packers started the second half by running the ball with Jimmy Montgomery and Dylan Judd gaining positive yardage. The offensive hit a speed bump and then had to punt. The punt resulted in pinning the Raiders deep in their own territory. Several plays later the Packer "D" stopped the Raider running back in their end zone which resulted in a safety bringing the score to 7 to 2. The remainder of the game the Packer and Raider defensives prevented any further scoring. The defense was led by the line; play of Andrew Gustaferri, Jon Licurse, Zach Allen, Ryan Smith, Greg Lethbridge, Griffen Demilt and Jake Turchin, linebackers; Dylan and Tyler Judd, and Jimmy Montgomery and safety Stefan Blaszczak. The defense was also supported by the play of NickVerga, Liam Perneri, Henry Amione, Shane Manzi, Declan Reddy, Joe Sarro, Shane Manzi and Connor O'Connel.
