PLAYERS:
Opening day 2009 the
mighty RAIDERS took on the Colts. The Colts controlled
the line of scrimmage and came out on top despite some great plays
by the RAIDER BOYS. On offense Jake Denaro
threw an incredible 60 yard touchdown pass to Ben Schiller
for our only score of the day. Running backs John Lynn, Jack
Schnell, Harrison Swett and Brett Wilson
ran strong and were able to gain some tough yards. On defense the
RAIDERS had some great tackles by Tyler Ocasio,
Aiden Kates, Austin Chavez and Patrick Hood.
This weeks "Ironman Award" goes to Austin
Morelli who had two interceptions and kept us in the game
until the end. The RAIDER BOYS played hard but
came up a little short this week. Congratulations to the Colts on
their win. RAIDER BOYS be prepared to practice hard
on Saturday. Win or lose you are always Champions!
Game
#2 the RAIDERS took on the defending junior division
champions the Packers. It was a tough defensive battle
until the leader of the RAIDER offense, Jake
Denaro ran in a 15 year touchdown behind some great blocking
by Jerry English , Joe Kemp and Chris
Tsiavos. John Lynn then crashed in the extra point and the
RAIDERS took a 7-0 lead. Not to be outdone
the Packer defense stepped up and was able to score a safety making
the score 7-2 at the end of the first half. In the second half
the RAIDER defense held strong with some great
tackles by Noah Stumer and Ryan Collins.
Late in the fourth quarter Ben Schiller boomed
a 30 yard punt to pin the Packers back on their 10 yard line with
less then two minutes to play. The RAIDER
defense along with this weeks "Iron Man"
award winner Brendan Warren, who made the last
two big tackles of the game, held the Packers offense
scoreless and a final score of 7-2. Great job RAIDER BOYS.
You guys played amazing and congratulations on your first win
of the season. Get ready for those Cowboys next week.
Nor
Easter Bowl 2009, the RAIDERS took on the Cowboys
and it turned out to be a classic defensive battle. Each team
fighting each other and the wind driven cold rain. Not having
our starting quarterback the RAIDERS turned to
John Lynn, Brett Wilson and Austin Morrelli
to run the offense. All three did a great job behind some awesome
blocking by Shaun Deedy, Joe Kemp and Jerry
English. The RAIDER defense was
able to shut down the Cowboy offense except for two long runs
which were the only scores of the day. Congratulations to the
Cowboys on a good win 12-0. This weeks "Iron Man"
award goes to Aidan Kates who played the entire
game with no gloves and made some great tackles to keep us in
the game. You RAIDER boys win with dignity
and lose with class. Get ready for the Vikes next week.
Game #4
the RAIDERS faced off against those tough Vikings.
The very first play from scrimmage Austin Morrelli
scored a 60 yard touchdown run behind some great blocking
by John Lynn, Jack Schnell and Austin
Chavez to give the RAIDERS a 6-0 lead.
After that play the game turned into a defensive battle with both
teams struggling to move the ball. With two minutes left in the
fourth quarter the Vikings got the ball deep in the RAIDER
end of the field and it looked like they were about to win the
game. The RAIDER defense held strong and was
able to turn away the Vikings one last time with some great tackles
by Harrison Swett, Brendan Warren and this weeks
"IRON MAN" award winner Patrick Hood. Congratulations
to coach Anthony and the RAIDER
defense on keeping the Vikings scoreless the entire game. Good
luck to the Vikings on the rest of your season. Nice job RAIDER
boys you made us proud.
Week
#5 RAIDERS vs. Steelers. Austin Morrelli
started off with a big 50 yard run down to the Steeler 15
yard line with some excellent blocking by Jack Snell,
Chris Tsiavos and Brett Wilson. Jake Denaro then almost
scored a touchdown but was forced out of bounds at the 1 yard
line after taking a beautiful snap from Harrison Swett.
Morrelli then pounded it into the end zone behind
Jerry English and Ben Schiller
for a 6-0 lead. The game then turned into a defensive battle for
the remainder. The RAIDER defense held the Steelers
scoreless with some tough gritty playing by Sean Deedy,
Noah Stumer, Ryan Collins, Austin Chavez and Tyler Ocasio.
This weeks "IRON MAN" goes to John Lynn
who sprained his wrist during the scrimmage on Saturday but still
showed up early on game day to root his team on (get well soon
we need you next week against those Colts). Good luck to the Steelers
on the rest of your season. Another awesome game by you RAIDER
boys and I hardly even yelled.
Game #7
the RAIDERS did battle with the mighty Packers.
For the second time this season Austin Morrelli
on the first play from scrimmage scored a touchdown on a 70 yard
run thanks to some great blocking by Patrick Hood, Noah
Stumer and Jerry English. Missing two of our starting
running backs John Lynn (broken arm) and Jack
Snell (fever) the RAIDERS turned to
Brendan Warren and Brett Wilson to fill in and
they both did an awe some job gaining some tough yards. The
RAIDER defense lead by Aidan Kates, Tyler
Ocasio and Ben Schiller played great once again
and held the Packers to only 6 points all game. When the clock
ran out of time the final score was 6-6. This weeks "Iron
Man" award goes to two players Shaun Deedy and
Joseph Kemp for their great job at center. Good
game Packers and good luck next week. Great job RAIDER
boys. Next week is our last game against the Cowboys. Let's go
out on top.
I would like
to take this opportunity to thank everyone for a great season.
