ASST.COACH: JOHN STERNS ASST.COACH: CHRIS HANLEY PLAYERS:
Opening day 2009, under beautiful blue skies, the Steelers took on last years Jr. Division Champs, the Packers. The first half so a tough defensive struggle w/ the Packers scoring a TD right before halftime. Late in the 4th quarter, the Steelers got the board w/ a saftey by Connor "sack master" Ferrick. The Steelers took the ensuing free kick & marched down the field for the winning TD. The offense was lead by Chris "warrior" Nicholas & Mike "crazy legs" Leake. The defense then put the clamps on any Packer comeback, helped out by some great plays from Joey " crusher" Denovellis, Colin "bulldog" Hanley, & Danny "hitman" Riordan. Good luck to the Packers & the Steelers as the 2009 season gets rolling.
Steelers game 2, Sunday Oct 11th, beautiful
sunny day, Steelers taking on the Cowboys. Both teams played a great
defensive 1st half, w/ the Steelers scoring the only TD of the game
late in the first half. The Steelers had a nice 40 yd drive, capped
off by a terrific 8 yd TD run by JT "Mad Dog" Carlstrom. The
2nd half was a battle of field position w/ the Steelers defense stopping
the Cowboys time & time again. The Steel curtain was lead by Timmy
"Destroyer" Leake, Sammy " I wanna play D" Williamson, Daniel
" Hammer" Sterns, Brian "85.5" Johnson, & Joey "Coach Dan, it's my
B-day" Denoveilis. An exciting football game to witness & fun
game to coach, keep up the good work, Steelers.
Sunday Oct 18th, Steelers vs. Vikings, game was played under adverse conditions on the bleacher field. The first half was another defensive battle between these 2 Jr. division rivals, the Steelers defense was lead by Jake "the snake" McMahon, Chris "the man" Maischi, & Brendan "hammer" Sheehan holding the vikings scorless in the 1st half. The Steelers put together a nicely executed scoring drive in the 2nd half, working hard on the offensive line was Brian Johnston, Danny Riordan, Conor Ferrick, Daniel Sterns, & Joey Denovellis. Danny Cavallo ran 12 yds for the only TD of the day, behind some tremendous blocking from Mike Leake & Chris Kerr. Congratulations boys another hard fought victory, a great day for the Steelers not a great day for the weather, keep working hard.
Week #4 saw a battle of 3-0 teams, Steelers vs Colts. The Colts got on the board first w/ their opening drive & then took a 14-0 lead right before halftime. The Steelers had some nice defensive plays in the 1st half from Brendan "Bulldog" Sheehan, Matt "Hammer" Cheiechi, & John "The Animal" McNeeley. The Steelers finally got rolling on offense in the 4th quarter w/ some beautiful runs from Chris "Destroyer" Kerr & J T "Mad Dog" Carlstrom. The Colts wound up on the winning end 22-0, dropping the Steelers w/ their first loss. Keep your heads Steelers, keep working hard in practice, & good luck next week vs the Raiders.
After a day/night filled w/ Halloween trick or treating, the Steelers took on the Raiders. The first half saw a very tough defensive battle w/ Colin "Bulldog" Hanley, Conor "The Animal" Ferrick, & Jake "The Snake" McMahon all playing well on defense for the Steelers. In the the 2nd half the Steelers offense got moving w/ the help of Chris "Warrior" Nicholas, JT "Mad Dog" Carlstom & Chris "Bare Hands" Kerr, but just couldn't find the endzone. Most football games come down to 1 or 2 plays & the Raiders made 1 huge offensive play in the 2nd half. After holding the Raiders to no first downs all game the Raiders ran a beautiful fake reverse all the way down to the Steelers 2 yd line. A few plays later the Raiders scored to make it 6-0 which is the way the game ended. The Steelers season is far from over & we still have 3 games left to try & improve, next week we take on the Packers for the 2nd time & look forward to getting back on the winning track.
